Tenaska Advances the Tri-State CCS HUB in West Virginia

June 5, 2024

Thank you for the positive reception of Tenaska’s Tri-State CCS Hub. The support of landowners, local leaders, businesses and community stakeholders is key to our goal of developing a carbon capture and storage (CCS) project that is safe, responsible and, ultimately, mutually beneficial.

Today, we are excited to share progress on the extensive permitting of the project. Last month, Tenaska submitted its first Class VI application with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for our West Virginia well sites. The EPA has done an initial completeness review of the application and has deemed it administratively complete. This is a critical first step in the regulatory/permitting process and kicks off a roughly two-year technical review process to secure approval for construction.

The project will need to submit additional Class VI applications as it pertains to the Ohio and Pennsylvania well site. Progress is under way.

While there is much work ahead, our team remains optimistic about the path forward, knowing that your continued support is a driving force behind our efforts.

To help keep you informed, we’ve taken steps to enhance our visibility and communication efforts:

  • We launched our official website for the Tri-State CCS Hub (tristateccshub.com). This serves as a valuable resource for any updates, information, and insights into our progress on the project.
